STENA DRILLING

Stena Don – Offshore North Sea

Stena Don is a harsh environment semi-submersible unit, used for drilling, well completion and workover operations in water depths of up to 650 metres. It houses up to 140 people.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

ICE was asked to visit the Stena Don semi-submersible rig and conduct a survey of the A60 and B15 fire rated doors in the accommodation and surrounding areas. The survey findings were collated as part of a commercial report including a list of parts and new doors sets where required.

“Due credit to ICE team. Work is being completed to a high standard and the works are being carried out in the right manner”

THE SOLUTION

During our survey, we noted that the rig’s doors came from several different manufacturers. Some of these companies were no longer trading. ICE undertook considerable research and managed to procure recognised and universal parts to suit all the door types in the area covered by the survey.

This included door spring closers, handles, latches, locks, thresholds, bespoke door surrounds and various seals. New A60 and B15 door sets were also procured with mechanical fixings as to avoid any welding requirement.

THE TEAM

The project was completed by two joiners over two offshore visits.

THE OUTCOME

The work completed on schedule, within budget with no health and safety incidents.
